‘The Sea Swells’ to head to BIAFF in Georgia

Iranian short ‘The Sea Swells’ is to vie at the Batumi Int'l Art-House Film Festival in Georgia.

Iranian short ‘The Sea Swells’ has been set to vie at the 2019 edition of the Batumi International Art-House Film Festival (BIAFF) in Georgia.

Directed by Amir Gholami, ‘The Sea Swells’ was named among the titles selected for the short films competition program of the Georgian festival, which will open later this month.

The 16-minute flick is a surreal story of an old man who lives in a floating cottage on the sea and makes coffins for those who die in the battlefield.

Also in September, the film will be screened at In the Palace International Short Film Festival in Bulgaria.

Meanwhile, it will participate at the non-competition section of the Sapporo International Short Film Festival in Japan this October.

‘The Sea Swells’ attended the 10th Kinolikbez Film Festival in Russia in July.

The Batumi International Art-House Film Festival is aimed to enhance cultural exchange, understanding, and collaboration through the screening of new art house-house and non-commercial films from Georgia and other countries, according to the BIAFF’s website.

The 14th edition of the festival will take place on September 15-22, 2019.
